Deliveroo is Handing out Free Ice Cream to Cool Down London Commuters on the Hottest Day of the Year

Tomorrow is set to be the hottest day of the year, and Deliveroo is doing its bit to help you survive with free ice cream.

The ice cream fest is limited to London commuters on the Central Line, also known as the deepest pit of hell. You'll find riders taking up position at Bank, Tottenham Court Road, and Bond Street stations tomorrow, July 25, armed with Jude's and Oppo ice creams. They'll be there from 12pm - the universally acceptable time to start drinking alcohol and eating ice cream. And if you can do both at the same time, all the better.

"No one embraces summer quite like us Brits, from burnt-to-a-crisp BBQs, endless park pursuits and lobster tans galore," said Deliveroo's Joe Groves.

"But Londoners face something worse than a simple farmers tan, the Central line. So this Thursday as the mercury begins to burst we’ll be handing out delicious Judes and Oppo Ice Cream across the hottest tube line in London."

Just so you get some idea of how unbearably hot it's going to be, Londoners will be facing temperatures up to 38 degrees tomorrow, so look forward to that while you're crammed on the tube.

Deliveroo also announced its partnership with Sainsbury's this week that will see its riders delivering freshly baked sourdough pizzas and various sides, snacks, and drinks, to customers in Birmingham, Brighton, Cambridge and London. [Metro]
