German manufacturer Grundig has teamed up with Amazon for a few world firsts when it comes to Fire TVs, with new features like full remote-free voice control and ultra slim OLED sets available in two sizes.

The new Grundig OLED – Fire TV Edition includes the company's new UHD+ processor and is available in both 55 and 65 inches. The ultra slim tellies come with Dolby Vision at launch - although this only applies to Alexa models, and will roll out to the OLED sets without the hands-free voice control post launch - and Dolby Atmos Sound with a three-way immersive sound system for to bring the cinema into your living room. But without some guy sitting directly in front of you chowing down on the smelliest, noisiest foodstuff he could find at the snack kiosk.

Alexa integration uses far-field technology that utilises eight microphones alongside "advanced beaming technology" for the ultimate in laziness and convenience. You can uses voice commands to turn your TV on and off, search for films/genres, switch channels, adjust the volume, and skip back or ahead, and you can be standing anywhere you like in the room while you're doing it, in case you want to put its claims to the test by hiding behind the lamp in the corner to see if Alexa can still hear you. She can. She's always listening. As an added bonus, you can also use your TV to control any compatible smart home devices.

“Our new Grundig Fire TV Edition television range redefines how people think about their TV experience," said Mario Vogl, Grundig’s northern Europe regional director and managing director Germany. "Customers not only have access to all their favourite content through live broadcast and video-on-demand but can also control their compatible smart home products and access thousands of apps, channels and Alexa skills.

"We’re excited to be able to offer our customers the world’s first Fire TV Edition television with hands-free voice control technology, making it even easier for users to control their television and elevate their smart TV experience."

The Grundig OLED – Fire TV Edition is available to pre-order on Amazon Germany with prices starting at €2,399. Both models will officially launch on October 28. A UK date for pre-orders and launch hasn't been confirmed yet, but it probably won't be too far off the German release date.
