The rumoured October launch in China seems to be on track for Huawei's foldable Mate X.
After a Huawei customer service rep confirmed the Mate X's October launch last month, Chinese website cnBeta reports that the company's official Weibo account confirmed the China launch, slated for this month, adding that difficulties in production will result in a small initial run. The handset's limited supply will no doubt see people flogging it on for inflated prices, like the Samsung Galaxy Fold.
Twitter user @RODENT950 posted an unboxing video of the Mate X that you can check out below to watch it being folded and unfolded by a real person, rather than in a slick marketing shot.

With a release window of this month, it's likely that the smartphone will launch with the Kirin 980 chipset. Huawei CEO Richard Yu previously confirmed a Mate X with a Kirin 990 at some point down the line, although when we can expect that to actually drop is anyone's guess. [Android Police]
