Huawei is giving away its next gen smartwatch for free to those of you willing to dive into the icy depths of the Royal Victoria Dock to get it.
The puntastically named Dive-Thru will see the semi-submerged kiosk visited by a few brave souls who aren't put off at the prospect of splashing about in the open water of London's Royal Victoria Dock to interact with the watery kiosk, 'place their order', and collect their freebie from the hatch, all while underwater. Can't see anything going wrong with that idea, but dragging the water at the end of the day might be a good idea, just in case.
The Huawei Watch GT 2 was unveiled just last month, and boasts 15 sports modes with full-scale monitoring of 190 date types.
"We’ve created a great smart watch in the Huawei Watch GT 2, with its underwater credentials on top of all of the other sports data and technology it provides, what better way to launch it than right in the middle of the Royal Victoria Dock," said Justin Costello, director of marketing for Huawei UK and Ireland. "It’s great to be able to show first hand just how good the watch is.”
First up to demo the dive was British Olympian, Greg Rutherford MBE, who popped on a wetsuit and took the plunge.
"The new Huawei Watch GT 2 is the perfect accompaniment to working out and keeping on top of exercising and staying fit, so I didn’t mind getting in the water to get my hands on one! Plus it has a dedicated Open Swim mode, so can keep track of my stroke in the water," he said, doing his job by singing the praises of the smartphone.
You can find out if it's all that and a side of pancakes by visiting the docks this Saturday, October 19, from 12pm - 4pm.
