Samsung has stated that a patch is on the way for the giant flaw in its Galaxy S10 ultrasonic fingerprint scanner.
The issue seems to be the addition of a screen protector, with a customer adding it to their smartphone and discovering that the fingerprint scanner subsequently unlocked when anyone's thumb was pressed against it.
After reporting the problem to Samsung, the company said that it would investigate, and has since acknowledged the fault, saying that it's "aware of the case of S10's malfunctioning fingerprint recognition and will soon issue a software patch".
Until then, users are advised to stick to "Samsung authorised accessories, specifically designed for Samsung products,” to avoid this happening to them. [BBC News]
