Christmas is drawing alarmingly near and to avoid the prospect of getting stranded on a bus somewhere, we've got TfL's plans for the festive break.
As you'd expect, Christmas Day is a write-off for most, so you'll have to lump it and stay wherever you find yourself waking up that day. The Tube, buses, TfL Rail, London Overground, DLR, Trams, Rivers, and National Rail, will not be running
Boxing Day will see a reduced service for the Tube, DLR, buses, and Trams, and - in a first - the London Overground. Affected routes are Highbury & Islington to West Croydon and Clapham Junction to Hackney Wick. The balm to all of this is that you can travel for free on all TfL networks on New Year's Eve from 11.45pm up until 4.30am the next day.
And of course, it wouldn't be Christmas without a strike or two, and this year's will see South Western Railway staff walk out between now and New Year's, so prepare for delays and more getting stranded. A marmalade sandwich or two in your bag wouldn't go amiss. [TimeOut]
