Sky's HDR Support Back-Burnered for a Year at Least

By Gary Cutlack on at

Our site search facility seems to be working today and says we've been expecting Sky to launch a form of HDR on its platform – or at least via the costlier Sky Q part of it – for well over a year, but it still hasn't happened as we limp sadly and bruised into 2020; and now the broadcaster is saying it may not happen until the very end of next year or beyond.

This latest update comes from deep within Sky's customer service portal, where a long thread asking why HDR has not yet arrived was eventually addressed by a staff member. The community manager basically said no one's that bothered about it at all, and explained: "I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's unlikely that the UK will be seeing HDR until late next year at the earliest. We've pushed it back whilst we work on other priorities." [Forbes]
