Whirlpool Recalls its Other Machines That Spin Clothes Round

By Gary Cutlack on at

Poor old Whirlpool, fresh from years of being battered to recall its potentially incendiary tumbedryers, has now crumbled to pressure to recall over half a million of its washing machines over same-but-different fire hazard concerns.

Hotpoint and Indesit washing machines manufactured by the Whirlpool clothes-go-round conglomerate are included in the recall of machines built between 2014 and 2018, with this particular risk covering a problem with the door locking mechanism that could, somehow, trigger overheating and lead to the machines erupting aflame in the kitchen in a worst-case scenario you'd be rather unlucky to see.

There's a subdomain ready to check your appliance serial number to see if it's on the naughty list, although, somewhat inevitably, the site is down at the moment as the nation has a look to see if it qualifies for a free new replacement to whirr-in the new year. [Whirlpool via Sky News]
