January 17th. Mark that day, because it's when your resolution will falter and you'll slide back into your old ways - or so says Branston. But it has something to make you feel less bad about it.
That big boy of a sandwich up there is Branston's British take on the classic Italian snack, Mozzarella en Carrozza. That's essentially a grilled cheese with mozzarella rather than that plastic American shit, which can also include prosciutto on occasion. In this instance, it's stuffed with smoked mozzarella from La Latteria, a pile of Crown & Queue Glazed ham, and finished off with a generous smear of Branston Pickle. And if that hasn't already enticed you, it's got an extra crunch from a generous smattering of breadcrumbs and a coating of Smooth Branston Pickle. I don't even like ham, and my mouth's watering.
The glorious concoction has been cooked up in collaboration with The Cheese Bar in Camden and will be available this weekend when the nation is set to forgo its pesky resolutions from 13 days ago and embrace its old ways. That could be total bullshit, but this sandwich will make sure it comes true because just look at.
The sarnie will be served at The Cheese Bar between Friday, January 17 and Sunday, January 19, and is priced at £8. If you fancy chucking your attempts to control your rampant alcoholism out of the window while you're at it, you can add a Four Pure Brewery Basecamp Pilsner and round it up to £12.95.
