Google Stadia has its first European distribution partner with BT and its range of superfast broadband services.
If you have designs on getting a Stadia, you're going to need a download speed of at least 10 Mbps for 720p streaming at 60fps in stereo sound. 20 Mbps will get you a 1080p stream at 60fps with 5.1 surround sound and HDR processing. If you really want to get the most out of it with 4K resolutions, 5.1 surround sound, and HDR, you'll need a minimum of 35 Mbps. This where BT and its selected broadband packages come in, with average speeds from 67Mb.
If you sign up for either BT’s Superfast Fibre 2, Ultrafast Fibre 100, or Ultrafast Fibre 250, before January 30, you can nab yourself a free Google Stadia Premiere Edition. That gets you a Stadia controller, Chromecast Ultra and three months access to Stadia Pro which offers 4K/60FPS gameplay with HDR and 5.1 surround sound, as well as discounted titles.
The deal will be followed up by a second option kicking in on February 7, that'll offer a number of Superfast Stadia gaming plans on the same three packages, with a free Stadia Premiere Edition thrown in. Prices start from £39.99 for a 24-month contract with the price being bumped up on all three options after the two-year period.
