Samsung Flips the Script on Its Naming Process With the Galaxy S11 Too

By Shabana Arif on at

After pulling the old switcheroo with the Galaxy Fold 2's name, Samsung continues the trend by renaming the Galaxy S11.

At the same secret CES 2020 meeting that saw the Galaxy Fold 2 get its official name confirmed as the Galaxy Bloom, company CEO DJ Koh also announced that the smartphone we've all been calling the Galaxy S11 will actually be dubbed the Galaxy S20.

Koh explained that the new name ties in with Samsung's new marketing strategy so its kicking off the new decade with a jump to the 20s. Aside from skipping a few numbers, I'm not sure how this is really any different from the previous numbered iterations but we'll see how it unfolds in the run up to the reveal on February 11.

The new models will now be called the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+ and Galaxy S20 Ultra, as shared on Twitter last month by the founder of case manufacturer Schnail, @HarmlessKarl.

Samsung has yet to confirm all of this in an official capacity but given the amount of leaks that come pouring out about their devices prior to launch, I'd be surprised if any if this was off, but we'll have to wait and see. [TechRadar]
