Crash Bandicoot is Coming to Mobile and Twitter Already Hates It

Activision seems to have given mobile studio King - makers of Candy Crush - the job of bringing the next Crash game to the masses.

Spotted by Twitter users JumpButton and Motwera, this initially started off life as a survey ad on Facebook in at the end of last year. It appears to be an endless runner set on Wumpa Island that tasks the player with collecting Wumpas, spinning through crates for goodies, and giving TNT crates a wide berth. In addition to what sounds like pretty run-of-mill stuff, there's the addition of a base of operations, where players can grow crops, unlock buildings and weapons, as well as repairing a space rocket to fly off to a space station. So it's a bit of a mixed bag by the sounds of things.

YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh added to the intrigue with the reveal of another game mechanic that will have players rustling up serums to "defeat Dr Cortex," which is a bit vague.

According to an unnamed source of Crashy News, one of the possible names for the title could be Crash Bandicoot: On the Run.

Not everyone is taking the possibility of a Crash mobile game well, even though it doesn't mean that we won't see a console version of the game eventually. The responses on Twitter have mostly been poo-pooing the possible game because it's a mobile title.

A spokesperson for King told

"At King, we’re always trying and testing new game concepts for mobile platforms. Since becoming part of the Activision Blizzard family, we’ve been looking at ways to work together to create even more great gaming experiences for our network of players. Currently, we are exploring opportunities to bring Activision IP to the mobile platform."

That's a somewhat wishy washy response, but so far, it seems that a Crash mobile game is very likely on the way. [SlashGear]
