KFC's 80-Piece Popcorn Chicken Obesity Bucket Goes on Sale Today

By Holly Brockwell on at

It's a good week for food. Besides the wonderful yearly event that is pancake day, we've now got word that the long-awaited 80-piece (yes, eighty. Eight zero) popcorn chicken bucket from KFC has finally arrived.

Yours for just £5.99, the bucket contains – as you might expect – 80 pieces of popcorn chicken. And that's it. That's around 7.5 pence per bite, maths fans.

The bucket was trialled in 10 KFC branches in Glasgow in 2019, and was clearly well-received, since it's now going nationwide. Sadly, though, it's not a permanent addition to the menu – it's only available from the 24th of February until the 22nd of March. Not even a month. Sob.

Since this is officially the weirdest timeline, KFC UK & Ireland announced the launch with a Bernie Sanders meme:

They also clarified you don't need the KFC app to get the bucket – you just walk in and ask for a Popcorn Bucket. But apparently they'd appreciate it if you downloaded the app anyway, because presumably they spent a lot on it.

Will you be buying EIGHTY PIECES of popcorn chicken while you've got the chance? Let us know in the comments, if your fat fingers can still work the keys. [Metro]
