The fans have spoken! The Republic Gunship has won the vote to be the next Ultimate Collector Series Star Wars Lego sets.
This model was our editor Tom's pick when Lego announced the vote, which is the first time it's thrown the decision over to its fans for the UCS range. The Republic Gunship beat out the Nebulon B Escort Frigate, and the TIE Bomber, swooping in for the win with over half of the votes.
The Nebulon B Escort Frigate came in second, leaving production editor Kim's pick, the TIE Bomber, dead last. Not that she's too fussed - I put her on the spot to choose one and she said it was the least ugly of the three.
Lego says that its designers are now on the case to bring the Republic Gunship to life in Lego, adding that it'll be "one of the next UCS Star Wars sets." Whether they're sacking off the other two entirely, or if they're still on the table despite not having won the vote isn't clear.
Lego's already released Republic Gunship back in 2013, but it wasn't a UCS model. That one cost £110 seven years ago, so we expect the UCS set to be bigger and undoubtedly more expensive. Whether it'll share the £650 price point of the 4,784-piece Imperial Star Destroyer and 7,541-piece Millennium Falcon UCS sets remains to be seen.
As an added little surprise, three voters have been randomly selected to receive the UCS Republic Gunship when it launches, as well as a 75255 LEGO Star Wars Yoda, so be sure to check your inbox in case you're one of them. [Lego via Brick Fanatics]
