The Wallet-Friendly OnePlus Z Is Rumoured for a July Launch

The OnePlus 8 series is now in the wild, but the cheaper OnePlus 8 Lite we all expected to see never materialised. Back in March, it seemed like the budget handset option could be getting a rebrand as the OnePlus Z, and now a new leak suggests it's coming this July.

Twitter tipster Max Weinbach broke the news that the OnePlus is "revamping" the OnePus X under a new series, and that the OnePlus 8 Lite would be the smartphone to kick it off, and would be dubbed the OnePlus Z. This was corroborated by another one of our favourite leakers, Ishan Agarwal, who said that the cheaper handset would make an appearance this summer. Now another Twitter leaker, Max J., has shared an image indicating that the summer launch window is actually going to be this July.

The OnePlus Z was apparently set to be revealed alongside the OnePlus 8 series but was postponed over coronavirus-related issues, according to OnLeaks, who also referenced a summer release. Considering the smartphone will be more budget-friendly than OnePlus' flagships that are getting up there in terms of price now, if you've been holding out for a budget/ mid-tier device from the brand, you've got a bit of a wait to go.
