A BBC investigation into local barber shops has found a high proportion of them are flouting lockdown rules and still offering haircuts, whether that be by personal appointment or home visitation.
19 out of the 50 local barbers contacted offered to sort out a clandestine trim, which is angering the businesses that are heeding the advice to stay closed and not touch someone else's heads and ears, then touch someone else's heads and ears. A spokesperson for the local trading standards unit said: "There's a tiny fraction that want to deliberately break the law. It's not done out of naivety, it's done for commercial advantage."
And they are indeed taking advantage as the BBC spoke to one haircutter that had doubled prices, seeing as there's now a small risk of a grim, unreported death involved in having your precious backs and sides seen to. [BBC]
