If you've been missing your sandwich fix, you can now make your own Subway at home - just don't forget to overfill it with an uneven distribution of ingredients, douse it with too much sauce, and squash it as much as humanly possible, and it'll be just like the real thing. Yum!
Restaurants, pubs, cubs, and fast food chains closed their doors in March, but in an attempt to stay engaged with customers, some of them have been releasing recipes for classic menu items for people to make at home. It's a great idea because we all know no one is actually going to go through the rigmarole of cooking their own Greggs pasty or Subway sandwich from scratch when the chains are open again.
The recipes for Subway's Italian Herbs and Cheese Bread, Meatball Marinara Sub, Chicken Teriyaki Sub, Chipotle Southwest Sauce, and chocolate cookies are all on the Tastemade UK Facebook page, so you can recreate the restaurant experience at home. Just grab yourself a bag of crisps and a cola, and you're away.
Greggs has been more direct with its approach, sharing the recipes for its flaky concoctions on its own social media accounts, along with a hashtag to get people involved. So far, the bakery has released recipes for its Chicken Bake, Steak Bake, and (best of all) its Sausage, Bean, and Cheese Melt. The chain was set to trial a reopening of 20 stores in Newcastle, but backtracked on the decision - probably because of the scenes outside a Burger King that opened up for drive-thru orders only. Greggs is now doing operational trials behind closed doors, following McDonald's suit. [Metro]
