If you're near a Vue cinema and you've been waiting patiently to be able to go and see a delayed film in a dark room full of strangers without masks on, it's good news for you.
Originally, Vue said it'd be reopening in mid-July, but obviously that didn't happen. Now, it says it's reopening some, but not all, branches on 7th August (which is sooner than it sounds – next Friday).
There will of course be anti-covid measures in place, including online booking, social distancing, more cleaning, PPE for employees (good for you, Vue) and film times staggered to prevent too many people in one place at one time.
Toby Bradon, territory general manager of Vue Entertainment in the UK, explains:
"Behind the scenes, we've been working hard to develop safety protocols in line with government guidelines and informed by our recently reopened cinemas across Europe.
The safety of those who work and visit our sites is paramount and we've therefore taken the time to ensure protocols and staff training are in line with the latest guidance ahead of opening."
The specific branches reopening on the 7th include Westfield London (Shepherd's Bush), Manchester, Oxford, Doncaster, Edinburgh, Farnborough and Bromley.
If all goes well, hopefully the rest will follow before Tenet finally comes out.
