Scots Attempt DIY Blockade of English Border

By Gary Cutlack on at

A group of what the Edinburgh Evening News describes as "Scottish nationalists" has attempted to tell the English they're not welcome in Scotland at the moment, as tensions over the differing handling of coronavirus restrictions north and south of the border spill over into the real world.

It was a bit of a grim old affair by the sound of it, as cars near the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed were spotted parked up and covered in Scottish flags, with videos appearing online of chuckling protesters warning the English to "stay the fuck out" while wearing hazmat suits to visually explain the reason why. Or at least, the current reason why.

The paper says eyewitnesses reported protesters "reading out number plates on live streams" to shame drivers in some way too, although what good that'll do we're not sure. The anti-tourist feelings appear to be nationwide at the moment within rural communities, mind, with similar, albeit less organised scenes spotted on the Cornish border too. [Twitter via Edinburgh Evening News]
