Following on from March's desktop overhaul and yesterday's WinPhone announcement, the BBC's iPlayer team now turns its attentions to its iOS and Android mobile apps, with updated versions rolling out today. New features include a revamped and curated Home screen, a more sensibly delineated Category view, subtitle support for downloaded shows and smoother switching between landscape and portrait orientations. The Steven Spielberg-produced, Halle Berry-starring sci-fi drama TV show Extant has been snapped up by Amazon's Prime Instant Video service exclusively, as its battle to best Netflix's homegrown content continues. If you want to know what life on Earth for Berry's astronaut is like after a year-long stint in space, the show debuts in the UK on July 10th -- a needless day later than its US premiere, given it's on a streaming platform after all.
