The retailers will have to fund the e-waste clean up, which means your dead iPod or stereo might be the straw that breaks the camel’s back for stores on the edge like Currys.

White Galaxy Note on Sale Today, But Only in John Lewis

Samsung's white version of its massive 5.3" Galaxy Note has gone on sale in the UK today, but it's not what you'd call a wide release. It's launched in one particular branch of John Lewis, on London's Oxford Street, where it will remain an exclusive until the rest of the SIM-free retailers get their stock in mid-February. [Recombu]

With all this bluster about Netflix and LoveFilm, it’d be easy to forget that we also have Blockbuster in the UK. It’s still there with its brick and mortar stores, trying to justify its existence. Now it’s gone on the offensive with rental exclusives that tie-up films like Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy for two to three weeks; you won’t be able to get them anywhere else, not even streaming.
